Carrie, a young religious fundamentalist, is abandoned by her missionary father and has to move in with her mother, who came out of the closet and married another woman. Not only that, but they have a biological child, Tia. The story takes place over the first two days at a strange new house, as Carrie's new parents leave for a business trip, she must take care of her stepsister.
